The layers in the JSON
The world model is the live JSON, not a render. Search is free. Hydrate a course group and you get the scorecard plus GPS polygons: tees, fairways, bunkers, penalty areas, hole outlines, greens. 3D green slope data returns a hosted slope image plus geometry so a pin or ball can sit on the surface. Live lie elevation is the geohash endpoint — uphill, downhill, sidehill — not a coming-soon tile. Those layers sit on the same records as the golf course database.
Slope and lie, live
Green slope and elevation are image endpoints with overlay geometry. Lie elevation is live on geohash (US and UK strongest — send course names and we will check). That is the difference between putting physics and a pretty green.
How the course is mapped
Twenty years of proprietary golf course data. Collected by laser scan, drone, airplane, and satellite — highest quality available by course. Ten people on staff map courses every day. Daily course updates around the world since 2007. Simulators and caddie agents that need a hole a golfer can actually play pull those mapped layers, not a generated skyline of a fake club.
A Midjourney picture of a hole is the example of what this is not: it has no bunker polygons, no green slope, and no live lie elevation. Mapped course layers are the world model. Generated images are not.
